Don't just take a picture,
capture a moment!

The Many

There are the thrill seekers who hang off of ledges to get the perfect shot, and the grandmas coaxing kids to put on smiles, and the people who are more interested in taking a bunch of selfies than experiencing the actual event.

Nearly two trillion pictures are taken every year!

So, we're not going to take this time to discuss how great pictures are, as though they are the products of some newfangled invention that hasn't caught on yet — clearly, they have.

We will, however, discuss the difference between a picture and a work of art.

While the former is simply the result of a camera, a scene, and a click, the latter requires a photographer who can infuse the scene with magic through the mastery of angles, lighting, and technical equipment.

The One

It's not about the many, it's about the one!

While we can appreciate many of the trillions of pictures that have been taken, we are more concerned about 'The One'.

The one picture of a location or a person, that despite having been photographed many times before, somehow transcends the way in which it has typically been seen.

At Birch and Ink, we love creating photographs that captivate the mind which in turn instructs the eyes to gaze upon them longer.

What is the process?

Just like other art forms, the process of creating and capturing magic can vary from project to project; however, the overall process typically includes three main categories.

Locating A Scene

Capturing The Moment

Bringing It To Life
