Publishing FAQs

What is book publishing?

Book publishing is the process of transforming a written manuscript into a finished, publicly available book. It involves editing, design, formatting, production, and distribution. There are different types of publishing, including traditional publishing, hybrid publishing, and self‑publishing—each offering its own level of creative control, support, and involvement. No matter the path, the goal is the same: to bring your story or expertise to readers in a polished, professional form.

What types of publishing do you provide?

We offer most types of publishing, giving authors the flexibility to choose the path that best fits their goals. This includes support for traditional‑style publishing, hybrid approaches, and self‑publishing models. Our aim is to provide the structure, guidance, and creative expertise needed to bring your book to life in the format that serves it best.

How long does it take for my book to be published?

Timelines vary by project. A typical publishing cycle ranges from a few weeks to several months depending on editing depth, design needs, and author responsiveness.

Who owns the copyrights to a book that I have published by you?

Copyright conveyance is assessed on a case‑by‑case basis. In many situations, authors retain ownership of their work, while in others, rights may be shared or transferred depending on the publishing agreement. We review each project individually to ensure the copyright structure aligns with the author’s goals and the needs of the publication.

What is the difference between self‑publishing and traditional publishing?

Traditional publishing involves submitting your manuscript to a publishing house that selects, edits, produces, and distributes your book. Self‑publishing gives you full control — you hire your own team, make all creative decisions, and keep a larger share of royalties.

Do I need an editor before publishing?

Yes. Even experienced authors work with editors. A professional edit improves clarity, structure, grammar, and overall reader experience.

Can you help with cover design?

Yes. Professional cover design is part of most publishing service packages. A strong cover is essential for attracting readers and meeting retailer specifications.

What formats can I publish in?

Most authors publish in:

  • Paperback
  • Hardcover
  • E-book
  • Audiobook

You can choose one or all depending on your goals.

How much does publishing cost?

Costs vary depending on editing needs, design complexity, printing choices, and distribution plans. We can provide a tailored estimate based on your project.

What is print‑on‑demand?

Print‑on‑demand is a business model and digital printing process where products—such as books, apparel, mugs, posters, or other custom items—are only produced after a customer places an order. There’s no need to hold inventory, and the printing partner handles production, packing, and shipping.

Where will my book be available?

Depending on your distribution choices, your book can be available through major retailers such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, Kobo, and more.

Do I need an ISBN?

If you plan to sell your book through retailers or libraries, you’ll need an ISBN for each format (paperback, hardcover, ebook, audiobook). If your book is for private distribution only, an ISBN may not be necessary.

What is an ISBN?

An ISBN (International Standard Book Number) is a unique identifier assigned to a book. It helps bookstores, libraries, distributors, and online retailers track, catalog, and sell your title accurately. Each format of a book—such as hardcover, paperback, or e‑book—receives its own ISBN so it can be recognized as a distinct product in the publishing world.

Does an audiobook require its own ISBN?

Yes — an audiobook requires its own ISBN, separate from the print book or e-book. Each format is considered a distinct product in publishing.

Examples:

One ISBN for a retail-ready audio file (e.g., MP3).

Another if you release a different format (e.g., CD edition).

Can I update my book after it’s published?

Yes. You can revise your manuscript, update your cover, or release a new edition. Some updates may require a new ISBN.

Do you help with audiobooks?

Yes. We can assist with narration, production, and distribution to major audiobook platforms.
